49ers Deny Report That They're Trying To Trade Colin Kaepernick
The post-Jim Harbaugh 49ers roster will have notable changes—running back Frank Gore has reportedly agreed to a deal in principle with the Eagles—but one report claims San Francisco's seeing what they can get for quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Houston-based KBME radio host Jayson Braddock shared what he heard Sunday night, claiming that the Eagles and Bears (two teams at a quarterback crossroads) are interested in Kap:
49ers GM Trent Baalke vehemently denied the idea of moving the quarterback. Via CSN Bay Area:
"Colin is our quarterback and we are excited to have him," Baalke said in a statement. "He is not going anywhere. The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit and, quite frankly, ridiculous."
Logically, the 49ers still have Kaepernick on that team-friendly, pay-as-you-go contract, and the situation isn't dire, yet. They still have one more year before his cap hit floats near $20 million a season. Then again, every move so far has pointed towards the 49ers getting cheap. Who knows what the Jim Tomsula-led 49ers will look like. No, seriously, who knows?
