76ers Sign High School Student With Down Syndrome To Two-Day Contract
The Philadelphia 76ers' playoff hopes this season don't exist, but the team's taking the opportunity to do something nice for a high school basketball player with Down syndrome.
Kevin Grow, a senior at Bensalem High School (Pa.), is the team manager for the boys basketball team. For the last two games of the season, Grow got on the court. At first, he scored a trophy layup, but then Grow channeled Reggie Miller, sinking four three-pointers in a blowout win against Neshaminy High School (Pa.). Someone within the 76ers' organization heard about Grow and arranged for him to sign a two-day contract with the team today.
Today, Grow was treated like a player, hanging out with the team and eating dinner. And before tomorrow's game against the Cavaliers, Grow will find his own locker and jersey. He won't see any court time, but Grow will still enjoy a hell of an experience.
