A.J. Pierzynski Did Everything Wrong On This Pitch
A.J. Pierzynski definitely moved his body in a way that was indicative of effort after Jhoulys Chacin’s pitch went by him. But none of it worked.
The Braves catcher let a ball get away from him in the second inning of Thursday’s game, and Jackie Bradley Jr. took off for second base. Pierzynski tried to recover and throw him out, but instead spiked the ball into the grass as he turned into a heap of catcher’s gear.
Pierzynski can take consolation by remembering that he’s playing for the Braves, a club that has no desire to field a competent team this season.
