Adrian Beltre Humbled By Incredibly Slow Pitch
Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre, whose habit of falling to one knee while batting is second only to his absolute hatred of having his head touched in a ranking of Adrian Beltre quirks, did not expect a 61-mph pitch from Red Sox reliever Fernando Abad in Wednesday’s game. The result was a powerful man somewhat falling over because his brain and body disagreed.
Though Beltre was able to restrain himself, Abad’s pitch floated across the plate for strike two anyway:
Beltre finished the at-bat by lining out to short. They can’t all be homers from one knee.
