Mandatory Credit: Troy Taormina-Imagn Images Houston Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes has withdrawn from Tuesday's All-Star Game to attend to a family matter, Astros manager Joe Espada said prior to Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers.
Paredes was serving as Houston's designated hitter on Sunday.
Espada said Paredes wouldn't miss any of the Astros' games. Houston resumes play after the All-Star break with Friday's road game against the Seattle Mariners.
"Oh yeah, he'll be back," Espada said. "He just needs to go and spend some time and take care of some family matters, but ... he's fine."
Paredes entered Sunday's play with a .254 average, 19 homers and 49 RBIs in 91 games.
The American League didn't immediately name a replacement for Paredes.
Paredes was added to the roster Wednesday when Jose Ramirez of the Cleveland Guardians pulled out. He also was an All-Star in 2024 when he played for the Tampa Bay Rays.
