Baltimore Orioles Tackle Low Attendance By Asking Fans To Pay More
The Baltimore Sun's Peter Schmuck asks an interesting question of his readers today: Is it logical to spend an average of $3 more for a ticket to watch the mighty Orioles (66-96) do battle next season?
News item: On the same day, the Ravens - who have reached the playoffs three straight years - announced that they will not be raising ticket prices, even though they usually do so every other season and they didn't last year.
My take: This probably seems like another clear sign of the difference between the two franchises, but it's really comparing apples and oranges. The Ravens held back on a price increase because of the looming labor war that could shorten or wipe out the 2011 season.
