Connor McDavid Out "Long-Term" With Apparent Shoulder Injury
Oilers center Connor McDavid—the number one overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft—suffered what the team termed an “upper-body” injury Tuesday night, and will be out “long-term,” according to coach Todd McClellan. McDavid suffered the injury late in the second period, after he took an off-balance shot and slid into the boards along with two Flyers defensemen. He left the game, and was later seen with his arm in a sling.
Just 18, McDavid is clearly a future star. He has 12 points in 12 games—tied for 11th best in the league—and is already doing shit like this. The not-very-good Oilers will certainly be worse off without him, and the rest of us will miss out on what were sure to be a number of highlight reel plays.
Update (1:12 a.m.): It’s probably a fractured collarbone.
