Cops: Lenny Dykstra Arrested After Uber Driver, Who He’d Threatened To Kill, Drove To Police Station
credits: Linden Police Department Lenny Dykstra has long since ceased to be a former baseball player with the Mets and Phillies. Now he’s just a semi-famous man who is occasionally in the news for something. Usually it’s not great. Whether it’s pleading guilty to bankruptcy fraud, admitting a sexual harassment claim or allegedly trashing a hotel room, Dykstra just makes news.
Today’s Lenny Dykstra news comes from the police department in Linden, New Jersey. Dykstra was arrested at 3:30 this morning after an altercation with an Uber driver. He was charged with a third-degree count of making terroristic threats, as well as a bunch of drug crimes.
According to the police report, here’s what happened: Dykstra hailed an Uber early this morning, then requested to change his destination. The driver, a 47-year-old man, refused. Dykstra then put a gun to the driver’s head and threatened to kill him. The driver had an ace up his sleeve, however: He simply sped straight to a garage attached to Linden Police Department headquarters, alerting officers by honking his horn repeatedly, then stopped out front of police HQ.
Cops found no weapon when they arrested Dykstra, but they did allegedly find marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy. Dykstra told the that, contrary to a police report and press release, he was not actually arrested. He also blamed the driver for the incident.
“The guy went nuclear on me,” Dykstra told the paper. “He fucking kidnapped me and almost killed me going 100 mph. He locked me in his fucking car, and he wouldn’t let me out.”
Dykstra was released on a summons to appear in court next month. Stay tuned for the next installment!
