Cornell Player Kills Bee During Ivy League Basketball Tournament Game
There was a buzz at the Palestra yesterday.
The Palestra opened in 1927. It gets hot inside. To make the stands a little more palatable for fans, sometimes Penn staffers open the windows. The windows were open for the Ivy League basketball tournament yesterday, which is probably how a bee got on the court and began terrorizing Harvard and Cornell players.
The bee briefly harassed several players on Harvard and Cornell before a pair of free throws, but Cornell’s Joel Davis saved the day by stomping on the bee. Stone Gettings brushed the bee off the court before sinking a pair of free throws.
Harvard took advantage after the bee death, breaking open a close game in the second half and winning 74-55. The Crimson play the Penn Quakers for the Ivy League tournament title today. Hopefully the Palestra will be bee-free.
