Dee Gordon Turned A 16-Pitch At-Bat Into The Game-Winning Run
Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon was an absolute pest to Mets reliever Jim Henderson in Tuesday’s game. Gordon milked his eighth-inning at-bat for 16 pitches before he lifted a single into shallow left field.
Gordon struck out in his first three appearances, and Henderson, who only has a fastball and slider in his arsenal, got him to a 2-2 count. But Gordon kept fouling off balls, to the frustration of the Mets. When Henderson finally threw a slider, Gordon connected:

After reaching first, Gordon stole second, advanced to third when the Mets walked two batters, and got home on Martin Prado’s sacrifice fly. Miami won, 2-1.
