Ex-MLB Pitcher Livan Hernandez Files For Bankruptcy
Photo: Matthew Stockman/ [object Object] Former MLB pitcher Livan Hernandez has filed for bankruptcy in federal court in South Florida. It was first reported today by the Miami Herald.
The 42-year-old submitted paperwork on June 30. He requested Chapter 13 bankruptcy and estimated his assets were worth between $0 and $50,000. Hernandez estimated his liabilities were between $500,000 and $1 million. The list of creditors includes banks, credit card companies, and the IRS.
Hernandez’s last major-league appearance was in 2012 for the Milwaukee Brewers, but he didn’t officially retire until 2014. He was a rookie when the Florida Marlins won the World Series in 1997, and played parts of his career with the Washington Nationals.
