Georgia Botches Punt; Vanderbilt Scores Game-Winning TD On Next Play
Vanderbilt scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to upset Georgia at home today 31-27. It was Vandy's first win over a ranked opponent in six years and was thanks in part to a brutal special teams play inside Georgia's 20-yard line.
The snap sailed over punter Colin Barber's head and all he could do was get a fingertip on it, cover it up and hope the defense could hold Vandy to a field goal. On the very next play, Jerron Seymour took the handoff 13 yards into the endzone to give Vanderbilt 31-27 lead with 2:53 left and they hung on to win. It sounds like even Tim Brando got a little excited about it.
