Georgia Dome Blowed Up Real Good
It took only 25 years for the Georgia Dome to be deemed obsolete and replaced, and another 15 seconds for the whole thing to come down.
What was at its opening in 1992 the largest domed stadium in the world had given way to Megatron’s Butthole next door, and the Falcons’ new stadium needed the land for a parking lot and (separately) a tailgating area. So early this morning, 4,800 pounds of explosives were used to implode the Georgia Dome without damaging the new stadium, just 80 feet away.
I know I can’t be the only one still a little disappointed that “implosion” doesn’t actual mean the whole thing sucks in on itself until it’s nothing, like at the end of Poltergeist, but this is some quality stadium destructo-porn.
Okay, that was fun. But wait:
Just like the Falcons to not be able to finish.
