Japan Score Scruffy Goal From A Corner, Progress To World Cup Semifinal
Look, they won’t all be wondrous moves drenched with class, genius, and magic pixie dust. But a winner is a winner, and Japan finally got theirs near the very end of their quarterfinal matchup against Australia.
The game itself was much like the goal, scrappy and largely unimpressive. Japan controlled things pretty much the whole time, but struggled to connect with their final passes. They still had moments where their interplay and movement almost resulted in some stupefying goals, namely a back-heel from a cross that everyone would be talking about right now if it would’ve slide the other side of the post, but it wasn’t to be.
With their qualification for the semifinal, they’ll have at least one more chance to flaunt their stuff, and we’re excited to see what they can do.
