Jerry Jones Says Romo Is "The Best In The Business" In The 4th Quarter
On the radio with 105.3 The Fan today, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked how he'd feel this Sunday if Dallas had the ball against the Eagles, down four, with two minutes remaining. He didn't mince words:
"I'm expecting to win it. I hadn't booked it, but we had 'em against Denver. And we've got a quarterback that's the best in the business in the fourth quarter. He's the best. He can make it happen when it's not there. Other than being ahead with the ball, there's no one I'd rather have at this time than to have Romo trying to get us down the field in a short period of time."
This is typical owner confidence, but it's not without some statistical backing. Romo owns the NFL's all-time passer rating in the fourth quarter. He's sixth on the active list for fourth-quarter comebacks, and ninth among active QBs for game-winning drives.
He's also Tony Romo, and has a (maybe undeserved) reputation for giving opponents opportunities for game-winning drives. You take the good with the bad.
