Surrounded by trainers from both teams, Shoemaker was able to walk himself off the field with a towel pressed to his head to stem the bleeding. Early reports from the hospital indicate a small skull fracture and a small hematoma.
Six relievers combined to finish out the 4-2 victory for the Angels.
Update: Shoemaker had surgery and is expected to make a full recovery for next season.
