Moses Malone Jr. Says He Was Robbed And Beaten For Criticizing James Harden
Moses Malone Jr., son of NBA legend Moses Malone, was beaten and robbed outside of a nightclub in Houston, Tex. last month. Right after the incident, Malone Jr. told a local ABC reporter that the attack was in retaliation for a Facebook post Malone Jr. had written that was critical of Houston Rockets star James Harden. Four suspects have since been arrested by Houston police, and court documents reveal that Malone Jr. also told the cops that the attack was carried out in defense of James Harden’s honor.
According to the charging document, Malone Jr. was confronted by Darion Blount and 15 other people when he left the V-Live strip club at 2:30 a.m. Malone Jr. claims that Blount began yelling at him about the Facebook post that was critical of Harden, who is apparently a prominent customer at V-Live. Blount allegedly told Malone Jr. that he needed to be “punished” and then ordered the other suspects to beat and rob Malone Jr. One suspect allegedly threatened Malone Jr. with a handgun.
The charging document says police later contacted Blount, who is a security guard at V-Live, at which point Blount admitted that he confronted Malone Jr. over the Facebook post, but claimed he went back inside before the fight started.
Blount was arrested and charged along with Deavion Lewis, Oscar Wattell and Kavon Boutte. All four men have been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
James Harden has not been charged with or accused of any wrongdoing, and has not yet made any public statements about the incident.
