Nets Superfan On Life Support After Two-Story Fall [Update]
Nets superfan Jeffrey Vanchiro, also known as Jeffrey Gamblero, reportedly suffered severe brain damage and fractured his spine after falling from a second-story window at his father's house in Queens Saturday night.
Vanchiro, who has a prosthetic leg, was in the news earlier this month after Madison Square Garden security carried him out of a Dec. 2 Nets-Knicks game. Kristi Evans, Vanchiro's fiancée, told Andrew Keh of the New York Times that Vanchiro had been acting oddly since the ejection:
"After that, he was a completely different person," Evans said. "He was paranoid. He was erratic. He was frightened. He was horrified. He was a bit delusional. He was having a lot of trouble sleeping. He couldn't sleep at all. When he would sleep, or try to sleep, it would only take about 10 or 15 minutes before he would jump up screaming covered in sweat."
Vanchiro is currently on a ventilator at New York Hospital Queens.
Update (9:58 p.m.): Vanchiro has died, according to Evans.
