Niners Will "Look Into" If Aldon Smith Was Drinking With Ray McDonald
The sexual assault investigation involving Ray McDonald also might have implications for San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith. As part of the investigation, the woman told San Jose police that she drank cranberry and vodkas with McDonald and Smith, according to a search warrant filed in Santa Clara Superior Court.
Smith is on probation after he pleaded no contest to drunk driving and weapons charges last year. Niners general manager Trent Baalke said yesterday that the team would " look into it," ESPN reported.
"We're certainly going to look into it," Baalke told "The Damon Bruce Show" on 95.7 The Game on Monday in regard to Smith's reported presence at McDonald's house. "In this situation, I think, there are different situations, and we treat each situation differently, but yet we're certainly going to look into it."
Smith's agent told CSN Bay Area that the allegation was " completely false."
As for if the drinks might have violated Smith's probation, that's unclear. ESPN reported that the terms of Smith's probation included no drinking. But the Sacramento Bee and San Jose Mercury News reported that his probation terms prohibited only driving after drinking.
