Harper, the son of five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, chose Rutgers over Duke, Auburn, Kansas and Indiana among his nine offers. He follows in the footsteps of his older brother Ron Harper Jr., who scored 1,525 points in his four-year career in Piscataway, N.J.
Harper joins Ace Bailey, the consensus No. 3 prospect in next year's class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. It's only the fourth time since 2007 that a school landed two of the top three players in a class, and Duke did it the three other times, according to ESPN.
The 6-foot-6 Harper plays for Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, N.J.
His commitment gives Rutgers the No. 3 recruiting class in 2024 behind only blue bloods Duke and Kentucky.
