NSAC: Jon Jones Tested Positive For Two Banned Substances
UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones was pulled from his UFC 200 fight against Daniel Cormier after he tested positive for a banned substance. Today, the Nevada State Athletic Commission revealed that Jones tested positive for two banned substances.
According to NSAC, Jones’s out-of-competition A and B urine samples tested positive for clomiphene, an anti-estrogenic substance, and letrozole, which works to prevent the synthesis of testosterone into estrogen. NSAC extended Jones’s temporary suspension today, and he is facing a potential two-year ban under the UFC’s anti-doping policies.
After his positive test became public, Jones held a press conference in which he denied knowingly taking any banned substances. “I’ve been taking the same supplements the majority of my career. I’ve been so outspoken about being against any type of performance enhancers,” he said. Jones will have a formal hearing with NSAC sometime in October or November.
