Police: Dad, Football Coach Get Into Armed Conflict Over Playing Time
A man confronted a Kansas youth football coach over his son's playing time, and a group of men beat the coach before his wife pulled out of a gun of her own and fired a shot into the air, according to police.
The scuffle happened Monday night at practice in Wichita's Linwood Park. The unnamed coach was approached by one man who complained about his son's playing time and lifted his shirt to show a gun in his pants. Then, a bunch of other men jumped the coach, before his wife rescued him. The Wichita Eagle has more details:
One of the men had a set of brass knuckles he used to beat the coach. Seeing the attack, the coach's wife pulled out a gun and fired it into the air.
The coach broke free of his attackers and went to his car for a second gun, which he pointed at various people in the crowd, [Lt. James] Espinoza said.
The men who attacked the coach all escaped; police haven't made any arrests yet.
