Presenting What Could Be The First Nasty Face-To-Boards Hit Of The NHL Preseason
Jody Shelley of the Philadelphia Flyers (for now) logged 6:27 of ice time in a preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs before he was asked to retire to the locker room for the evening.
This hit on Darryl Boyce in the second period (and subsequent fisticuffs) was the reason for his game misconduct. It was also the reason for a hockey fight that justifies paying for a preseason ticket. And, probably a suspension.
"I haven't had the chance to take it back and look at it again," coach Peter Laviolette said. "Jody typically tries to play an honest game out there, so I'm not sure where we'll go from there. The league's looking at incidents, so the fact that there was a call and a game misconduct, I'm sure it'll get looked at. But hopefully nothing will happen. He's a fairly honest player."
Parrrr-ty.
