RedHawks Play With Empty Net For 12 Minutes, Score Three Goals, Lose
Down four goals with almost 13 minutes left in Saturday's NCAA hockey regional semifinal, Miami RedHawks coach Enrico Blasi went full Patrick Roy, pulling his goalie in an attempt to pull off a historic comeback against the Providence Friars. It almost worked!
Miami scored three times with an empty net, clipping the deficit to a goal. There was one really close call with about a minute left, when defenseman Louie Belpedio stretched out and saved a drifting puck.
The comeback was not meant to be, however. Providence's Brandon Tanev finally scored on the empty net with 6.3 remaining, and the Friars took the 7-5 win.
