Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Atlanta has two weeks to figure out who will protect the blind side of starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. when the regular season begins Sept. 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Falcons' top two options at right tackle aren't expected to be available, potentially exposing their left-handed quarterback behind suspect pass protection.
ESPN reported starting right tackle Kaleb McGary will miss time after a lower leg injury on Wednesday. He was hurt before practice started one day after top backup Storm Norton underwent ankle surgery. Norton's recovery time is around two months.
McGary, 30, signed a two-year, $30 million contract in the offseason and is in his seventh NFL season since Atlanta drafted him in the first round in 2019.
Elijah Wilkinson was used at right tackle in practice on Wednesday. His previous playing time with the team came mostly at guard.
