Mandatory Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Vanderbilt star quarterback Diego Pavia has accepted an invitation to the Baltimore Ravens' rookie minicamp next weekend, ESPN reported Sunday.
The Ravens need signal callers for the rookie camp as they don't have any on their roster that qualify and didn't select any in the just-concluded draft. Baltimore also is reportedly brining in UConn quarterback Joe Fagnano for the camp.
Baltimore has veteran quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley on its active roster.
Pavia went undrafted in the three-day, seven-round draft despite being runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. He is the first runner-up for the prestigious award to go undrafted since Iowa quarterback Brad Banks in 2003.
Pavia also became the first Heisman finalist since quarterback Jordan Lynch of Northern Illinois in 2014 to be passed over in the draft.
Pavia passed for 10,255 yards, 88 touchdowns and 27 interceptions while starting at New Mexico State (2022-23) and Vanderbilt (2024-25). Last season, he completed 70.6% of his passes for 3,539 yards and 29 touchdowns against eight interceptions.
He etched his name into Vanderbilt lore by guiding the Commodores to an upset of No. 1 Alabama during the 2024 season, the school's first-ever victory over a Top 5 program.
Pavia wasn't highly regarded by NFL scouts due to his 5-foot-10 stature and the lack of NFL-preferred arm strength.
