Mandatory Credit: John E. Sokolowski-Imagn Images The New York Mets are in agreement with All-Star infielder Bo Bichette on a three-year, $126 million contract, multiple outlets reported Friday.
The deal, which is pending a physical, contains opt-outs after the first and second seasons and no deferrals, according to ESPN and The Athletic.
Bichette reportedly will move to third base for the Mets, who were competing with the division rival Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox for the services of the 27-year-old free agent.
A two-time All-Star with the Toronto Blue Jays, Bichette batted .311 with 18 homers and 94 RBIs in 139 games last season for the American League pennant winners.
Bichette returned from a knee injury to play in the 2025 postseason and batted .348 in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. His three-run, third-inning homer off Shohei Ohtani gave Toronto a 3-1 lead in Game 7, which the Dodgers won 5-4 in 11 innings.
A second-round pick by the Blue Jays in 2016, Bichette is a lifetime .294 hitter with 111 home runs and 437 RBIs in 748 games since making his debut in 2019.
Defensively, Bichette has played exclusively at shortstop during the regular season. He started four games at second base in the World Series.
The Mets have five-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner Francisco Lindor at shortstop.
