San Francisco Giants Will Remember A Guy
After some cursory investigating, MLB pitcher Ryan Vogelsong does not appear to be dead or dying, so it’s unclear why the San Francisco Giants are recognizing a guy who played with the team for approximately six undistinguished seasons over a 17-year career.
This seems a bit overdramatic:
Vogelsong’s most notable moments as a Giant were when he was traded for Jason Schmidt, when he pitched well in the 2012 postseason, and when he pitched very poorly in the 2014 postseason. He also pitched very poorly for the Pittsburgh Pirates for about five seasons and played in Japan for a bit, but because the Giants have chosen to sign him to a one-day contract and give him a retirement ceremony, you now remember him. Who are some other guys that you remember? I remember Eli Whiteside. Maybe the Giants can retire his number.
