Spanish Prosecutors Charge Jose Mourinho With €3.3 Million Tax Fraud
Photo: Mike Hewitt/ [object Object] According to Spanish prosecutors, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho owes the state €3.3 million in taxes from his time coaching Real Madrid in 2011 and 2012, as El Mundo.
The Portuguese coach allegedly did not disclose income from his image rights.
The Guardian:
In a statement released on Tuesday, a prosecutor in Madrid said the Portuguese manager had committed two counts of tax fraud in 2011 and 2012, saying that “corporate structures were used by the accused in order to conceal revenues generated from his image rights.”
The claims come just a few days after Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of not paying € 14.7 million in taxes. Ronaldo will testify in court on July 31.
Last year, Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano were found guilty of defrauding the Spanish tax authorities, but their sentences were suspended and they did not serve jail time.
