The LA Kings And LA Galaxy Have To Share A White House Visit
Nine months later, the Kings finally get their due as Stanley Cup champions. But they won't be alone. Obama's a busy man, and it's not like Washington's a hockey town. The Kings will share the stage with the MLS Cup champion Galaxy.
It cuts back on travel time for Philip Anschutz, who owns both franchises. (The championship trophy is named after him!) But it's kind of a kick in the balls to hardcore fans of either team. The Ravens sure as hell won't have to split the president's attention with the Rochester Knighthawks next year.
Regardless, Kings coach Darryl Sutter is eager to pitch Obama on the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline, that would run through his home province of Alberta. Winger Dustin Penner will keep his chat simpler:
“I’m going to probably ask him if he knows of any California state tax loopholes.”
The Galaxy have been posting some good photos on the team Twitter account, and you can watch the ceremony here.
