This Airballed Free Throw Is Why The Lakers Are Vulnerable To Hack-A-Dwight
Dwight Howard went to the line 13 times last night, more than twice as often as the rest of the Lakers' starters combined. He went just 5-for-13, with his final two attempts coming with under two minutes remaining and a chance to tie the game. This was the first one. The second one was slightly less embarrassing, but didn't count for any more points. The Lakers wouldn't score again, and Miami would pull away for the 99-90 victory.
The Lakers looked, dare we say it, pretty good against the defending champs, leading the Heat at halftime and starting the fourth on a 13-5 run to tie it up before LeBron James and Ray Allen ran away late. But despite Mike D'Antoni's insistence that season really started on Sunday, moral victories don't count for much when you're 17-22.
