UNC lands commitment of 2025 top 10 F Caleb Wilson
North Oconee's Justin Wise (2) takes a shot while being defended by Holy Innocents Episcopal's Will Hopkins (0) and Holy Innocents Episcopal's Caleb Wilson (24) during the GHSA high school basketball AAAA Region 8 championship game in Macon, Ga., on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. North Oconee won 65-60. Five-star forward Caleb Wilson, the highest-ranked uncommitted 2025 recruit, announced late Thursday that he will play at North Carolina.
The 6-foot-9 player from Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in Atlanta made the announcement on TNT's "Inside the NBA" studio show. His other finalists were Kentucky and Ohio State.
In the end, Tar Heels coach Hubert Davis made the difference for Wilson.
"I just looked at who the coach was -- I was able to build a good relationship with him -- looking at the roster and also just seeing how much the coach believed in me over the time he knew me," Wilson said on the show, adding, "I'll be taking my talents to Chapel Hill."
The 247Sports composite ranks Wilson as the No. 3 power forward and No. 6 player overall in the class.
He joins a recruiting class made up of guards Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga guard Derek Dixon and Davidson (N.C.) Day guard Isaiah Denis, both ranked in the top 10 at the combo guard position. The composite ranks North Carolina's incoming class at No. 7 in the nation.
Wilson is averaging 24 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 3.6 blocks and 2.5 steals per game in his senior season, per 247Sports.
