Utah HC G Karel Vejmelka signs 5-year extension

Financial terms were not disclosed by Utah, however TSN reported the deal is worth $23.75 million.
"Karel's confident demeanor helps set the tone for our team every day," Utah president of hockey operations Chris Armstrong said. "It allows our group to play to its strengths, knowing he is back there to make the key saves. Vej has earned this commitment from our organization, and we are grateful to have him as an important piece in our future."
Vejmelka, 28, is 16-16-4 with one shutout, a 2.45 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 38 games (35 starts) this season.
He is 60-91-15 with six shutouts, a 3.26 GAA and .901 SP in 178 career games (166 starts), all with the Arizona Coyotes/Utah Hockey Club franchise. He was selected by the Nashville Predators in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Draft and made his debut in the 2021-22 season.
"Karel has been integral to the success of our team this season," Utah general manager Bill Armstrong said. "He is a talented goaltender that competes every night he takes the net and has solidified one of the most critical positions on our team. We are thrilled to have Karel signed for the next five years."
