West Ham And Tottenham Trade Back-To-Back Bangers
Early-season basement dwellers West Ham showed some promise and held their own in a 1-1 draw against Tottenham today, but the point they won is mostly thanks to a bit of magic from Pedro Obiang. The Hammer midfielder, who had only scored two goals total since the start of the 2015-16 season, pulled off a rare feat by smashing the absolute hell out of the ball, sending it soaring into the top corner with a force that Hugo Lloris could not handle.
Spurs equalized 14 minutes later, however—not just on the scoreboard, but with a strike of matching quality. Though Son Heung-min is a much more likely candidate to score a long-distance bomb than Obiang, his cracking shot was just as shocking in its sudden power. Son’s goal muted West Ham celebrations and saved his team from a tragic result.
