Yep, The NCAA Also Sells An Autographed Photo Of Reggie Bush At USC
Jay Bilas's Twitter takedown of the NCAA's online store has sent a lot of people in search of more gems of hypocrisy, and this might be the best find yet, courtesy Larry Brown Sports: An autographed photo of Reggie Bush outrunning Oklahoma defenders during the 2005 BCS title game, yours for the low, low price of $179.95. From the product description:
This 8" x 10" photo is personally hand signed by Reggie Bush and features an action shot of the former USC Trojans running back. Includes a certificate of authenticity card (COA) and tamper-resistant hologram from Mounted Memories.
So what more do we know about the same NCAA that's now investigating whether Johnny Manziel sold his autograph? Well, it ordered USC to disassociate itself from Bush and even vacated the Trojans' win in the game depicted in the photo, yet it thinks nothing of selling this photo complete with Bush's name and a specific reference to USC. Hello again, NCAA lawyers. We see you removed that search option from the NCAA store sometime since Tuesday. Just a suggestion, but you probably ought to hide that autographed Bush photo, too. And hurry! Somebody might actually notice it's there.
Here's one more from Bilas, just for laughs: The NCAA store still offers a shirt (though it now says it's out of stock) commemorating Joe Paterno's 400th win—a milestone the NCAA wiped out last year without so much as a hearing:
At this rate, as Ed O'Bannon's lawsuit against the NCAA proceeds, his lawyers might be able to skip the discovery phase and just present Jay Bilas's Twitter account as evidence.
