Josh Gordon Will Miss The Start Of Training Camp For Unclear Reasons
credits: Tony Dejak | source: AP Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon, who has spent the majority of his NFL career suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, looked all set to start the 2018 season with a clean slate. This morning, however, he released this worrisome statement indicating that he will not be with the team when training camp starts:
Gordon’s statement says that he is “not only feeling great physically but mentally as well,” and that missing the start of training camp is all part of his “overall health and treatment plan.”
The Browns will place Gordon on the non-football injury list, and league spokesman Brian McCarthy told Cleveland.com that Gordon has not been suspended. He added that there is currently no timetable for Gordon’s return.
Gordon played in five games at the end of last season for the Browns, the first he’d played since 2014. He finished with 355 yards and a touchdown, and looked like he was still capable of being a good NFL receiver.
